Floyd Allen Rose

Ilion, New York

Mr. Floyd Allen Rose, 83, a lifelong Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 18, 2024 at his home on East North Street, Ilion, following a long illness.  He had the love and support of his family at his side, when his passing occurred.

He was born November 13, 1940, the son of the late Clark A. and Loretta (Rude) Rose and received his education in the Ilion school system, graduating in 1959. In 1961, he married the former Veronica J. Perkins. Floyd was employed as a master heavy fork roller in the forge room with the Union Fork and Hoe in Frankfort for 41 years, retiring August 10, 2000.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Veronica, a daughter, Stephanie Schloicka (Herb) of Ilion, and a son, Paul Rose (Sue Overacker) of Ilion. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Rose (Robert) and her children, Robert (Kim), Beth Clapper (Brian), Eileen Chappell (Michael) and a very special cousin, Laurence Rose. Floyd was the last surviving child of Clark and Loretta Rose. He was predeceased by brothers, Raymond (Lovetta), Edward (Lillian), Charles (Ida Mae) Robert. Sisters Mary Willis (Ken), Hazel Eaker (Cliff), and Beatrice Rose and sister, Dorothy who passed at birth and by his mother-in-law, Charlotte A. Perkins. 

Floyd’s proudest moments included being sectional wrestling champion in high school, playing semi-professional football for the Frankfort Falcons and ofcourse the birth of his children, grandchildren: Jonathan Schloicka (Jacquelyn), Timothy Schloicka (Kelsi), Brittany Kuznitz (AJ) and Taylor Rose, and great grandchildren, Thaddaeus Schloicka, Arya Schloicka, and the newest great grandson that he is pictured with Jameson P. Kuznitz. 

A special thanks is offered to the entire Ilion Fire Department, Hospice and Palliative Care of New Hartford.  In honoring Floyd's wishes, there are no services.  Arrangements for cremation are under the direction and care of Daniel J. Enea, Director at Mohawk Valley Funerals and Cremations, 7507 State Route 5, Little Falls, 315-508-5131.
